TRENDS FOR FALL & WINTER 2009

TEXTURE - Interesting mixes of textures - soft, hard, supple, thick piles, short piles, shiny, matte - it's really about a combination of textures that play off each other that create the interest for the decor.

MATERIALS - Lots of lacquer - trend coming from Europe to N. America. White, Black and other bright pops of color. Metals combined with lacquer, Veneers and Glass- creating contemporary chic looks for the home. Lots of regenerated leathers - which are really durable and make great dining chairs and bar stools.

COLOR - Mixes of color - lots of jewel tones, but also a return to warm soft neutrals while people 'burrow' during tougher economic times. White, Black and Grey still the strong neutral staples, while green is being considered more and more of a neutral too.

SHAPE - Clean lines and distinct shapes are most predominant we are also seeing faceted shapes are being featured. There is also a resurgence of traditional turn legs and other simplified classic shapes being shown in more modern materials and applications in both furniture and accessories.

AESTHETIC - Contemporary and modern merging with some traditional elements. Everyone wants their own personal twist on their decor - so we see more of a combination of the styles today. The antique piece from Grandma or a treasure found while traveling in exotic lands - paired up with the most modern looks of today. Most importantly - everyone is looking to have a cleaner more simple aesthetic - no more clutter, but not sterile either, everyone is looking for that balance that expresses and enhances their lifestyle.

STYLE AND THEME - Everyone is looking for more and more natural ecofriendly products for their home - but are now looking for that in a more sophisticated form. Modern technology is also really setting a theme for a lot of todays style -black and white, clean, crisp lines featuring vibrant and dark sultry colors. Globalization is another factor really influencing decor today - bringing together the aesthetics and styles from all corners of the world creating really interesting and dynamic mixes in home decor.
